The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 1996 with one goal in mind, to build an Internet library. “Its purposes include offering permanent access for researchers, historians, scholars, people with disabilities, and the general public to historical collections, which exist in digital format.” It is also responsible for the awesome internet time travel device, the Wayback Machine.
On Thursday October 25th Internet Archive supporters, volunteers, and staff celebrated the addition of the 10,000,000,000,000,000th byte of data to the Archive’s collection. Thats a ton of fantastic cultural information documented, congratulations and thank you for taking all the time and effort required to document the best of the internet.
